Turn HP T610 Plus Thin Client into Retro Gaming PC

In this video we are taking the HP T610 Plus Thin Client and turning it into a Windows XP Retro Gaming PC. There are benchmarks, we will go over the specifications, open the machine and look at upgrades for memory and storage. The machine has a PCIe slot, so we will install a GT 730 graphics card and compare the performance. We also play a few games and more.

I forgot to mention, inside the machine is a licence for WES7P.

John Umina : Is it possible to install Win98 on these? I've been trying - obviously I can't find most of the drivers. But it's also excruciating slow in the install.

Flash the Bios and turn off IDE emulation. If you can't save Bios settings, use an admin password.
I managed to install Windows 10 Pro and UEFI/GPT. If you want two sata drives, buy one of theses 22 pin extensions. I installed Kodi and that works fine, getting videos of my Raid 5 of WD Reds on a 'nix server.
It can now plays x265 HEVC 10 Bit Videos at 1920x1080 res. I haven't tried 4K but they should play.
I used an HDMI to SPDIF adaptor and feed the passthrough to a nice Surround amp.
I need to upgrade memory from 4Gb to 16Gb.
I've seen one of these with 2 SATA and a PATA drive on Google.
Lift the serial number off Win 7 before you upgrade and use that to save buying Win 10.

Can We Game On This $25 HP Thin Client ??

Thin client PC's are easy to come by and best of all they're cheap, but if you wanted to install Windows on one of these tiny boxes does it offer decent enough performance to be used as an everyday computer? And can we play games on it?

Daniel Lotridge : These are great. I have picked these up for 10 bucks. Gave a pair loaded with games to my cousins, who's parents were struggling. They never had a game system, a streaming device or a computer. Now they have all 3. A bluetooth dongle with a cheap controller and some trash bin keyboards and a few hours downloading games off the pirate bay. I'm so happy to see I wasn't the only one to see the beauty in these little gems. I think business should install learning software and games on these and gift them to families in need.
